The igloo was a small house made of snow. It was built in very cold places where building materials such as wood, stone and bricks were not available. We may think that a house made of ice would be very cold but igloos acted large like large blankets trapping body heat. Animal skins which were used as door flaps kept the warm air in. The Inuit lived in the northern most part of the earth. Some people called the Inuits ‘Eskimos’. They built igloos and lived in them.
